A Introduction to SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) - £10

If you have a website, chances are you’ve heard about search engine optimisation (SEO). SEO is the frequently misunderstood art of generating relevant traffic to your site, using search engines.  Search engine providers, such as Google, don’t publish the inner workings of how they decide what results to show for what queries potential visitors make. So how do we ensure that we appear in relevant search results?

By Daniel Sutton Ph.D., Founder of the Little Wolf Studio

The aim of this hour-long session is to give an overview of the field of SEO and provide you with the essential tools you’ll need to analyse your site’s performance. We’ll answer the following questions:

  • How do search engines work?

  • What are search engine algorithms?

  • What is search engine optimisation?

  • Where can I find changes, that I can make, that will improve my search presence?

  • How can I measure the search performance of my site?

We’ll send notes out after the talk. Can’t attend but would like to hear more? Sign up for updates here

Thursday Meet-up for Independents

Thursday Meet-up for Independents

Each Thursday morning we will be opening up our Tudor lodge space for meet-ups between small businesses.

As a creative, a freelancer or someone running an independent business you will spend a lot of time working on your own. This Thursday meet-up is for all those individuals that would like to connect with other small businesses to share their ideas, or seek collaboration opportunities.

We hope that by bringing like-minded people together who experience common ground in business, there will be an opportunity for mentoring, skill swapping and just general chit-chat, plus even some new friendships may be formed too.

We will also aim to run short business workshops and talks on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

Stay for as little or as long as you would like. We will have an honesty box for teas and coffees and cake (when I have had time to bake, but if not we have some gorgeous independent establishments close by, such as Thyme for Tea and Godalming Deli).

Just pop along and hopefully we can find a spare seat.

Painting & Drawing Course - 3 x workshop sessions, 2nd, 9th, & 16th (10:00am - 12:00pm)

to 16 Mar

Painting & Drawing Course - 3 x workshop sessions, 2nd, 9th, & 16th (10:00am - 12:00pm)

A short painting & drawing course - 3 x workshop sessions, 2nd, 9th & 16th March.

10am - 12pm. by Charlie Betts.

Related to Charlie’s work at the Watts Gallery as Artist in Residence with Anna Garrett, working in the surrounding woodland of the gallery and thinking about it’s history. Mary Watts was an influential artist and figure in the arts and crafts movement, she was also very active in the local women’s suffrage movement. One of her contemporaries was Gertrude Jeykll the renowned garden designer and artist. Both women were highly successful 19th century creative women. Both women had an affinity with nature, plants, flora and the landscape. This has lead me to explore these areas in greater depth in particular focusing on links and associations between women and plants and their properties, trees, flowers and nature.

The series of 3 workshops will explore different aspects of this area: the historical context of art, flowers, nature and notions of femininity; the properties of plants, alchemy, magic, healing, wellbeing and folklore and; a contemporary take - looking at how and why artists work with nature and flowers now with examples of powerful works by the likes of Joan Mitchell. Throughout the workshops a wide range of artists would be introduced, whilst techniques in sketching and painting, colour and the significance of colour and composition would be explored.

3 x workshops each 2 hours long.  Each workshop will be a mixture of discussion around the themes and relevant artists and experimental drawing and painting.

Class suitable for all levels.

About Charlie…We are super excited to be hosting this workshop with the brilliant Charlie Betts. Charlie holds an MA in Fine Art with Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London with a BA Hons degree in Fine Art. Charlie has a studio in the Surrey Hills and has exhibited widely nationally. Charlie has extensive teaching experience in a wide range of settings and we are really pleased to be able to welcome her to Wattle & Daub.

A space where you can bring your laptop and notebook and work with others. As a creative, a freelancer or someone running an independent business you will spend a lot of time working on your own. Our co-working Thursdays are for all those individuals that would like a little company while they work, plus to have the opportunity to share their ideas, or seek collaboration opportunities.

We hope that by bringing like-minded people together who experience common ground in business, there will be an opportunity for mentoring, skill swapping and just general chit-chat, plus even some new friendships may be formed too.

We will also aim to run short business workshops and talks on the 3rd Thursday of each month. We will shortly advertise the topics we intend to cover over the coming months.

Stay for as long or as little as you would like. We will have an honesty box for teas and coffees and cake (when I have had time to bake, but if not we have some gorgeous independent establishments close by, such as Thyme for Tea and Godalming Deli).

Places are limited to 12 people at any one time, so we would ask that you reserve your place here. However, if you do forget to reserve, just pop along and hopefully we can find a spare seat.

To reserve a free place, please submit form below using the ‘reserve a place’ button.
